Currently all across France is the FIFA, also known as the Women's World Cup, and it is one of the most fun events I have ever attended. So far I have attended 3 games in Grenoble; Korea vs Nigeria, Canada vs New Zealand, and Australia vs Jamaica.
Now I am a hardcore basketball player and swimmer, so soccer/football was never my cup of tea. However these have been one of my top highlights of my trip to Grenoble. My favorite game has been Australia vs Jamaica, but it was also the dirtiest and most active game. The stadium was nearly full with over 1700 people.
While watching the match is a lot of fun, I also have enjoyed people watching. The french love their football along with other countries, and everyone goes all out in order to support their favorite team.
I also learned two interesting facts about these matches is that the symbol for the french team and series is a Gaelic Rooster. It supposedly represents the French's stubbornness. I also learned that alcohol is not permitted at all during the matches because people could turn violent very easily. So instead they sell beer without alcohol, which I didn't know was a thing?!
All in all, Grenoble is a lot of fun and I would definitely return and go see the matches again. Au Revoir ^^
